Hyperbaric Chambers are medical devices where Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is carried out in a non-invasive and safe way. Inside them, patients breathe high concentrations of oxygen at a pressure higher than normal atmospheric pressure.

Hyperbaric medicine has more than 200 years of history, although its formal application is much more recent and has become more popular in recent years. But, what is hyperbaric medicine?

The UHMS (Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society) defines Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy as an intervention in which an individual breathes near 100% oxygen intermittently, inside a pressurized hyperbaric chamber at a pressure higher than sea level (1 atmosphere absolute). It defines that, for clinical use, the pressure must be equal to or greater than 1.4 ATA.

Hyperbaric Medicine It is a discipline that treats different conditions but also produces hyperoxia in the body, increasing the availability of oxygen in the blood plasma. This increased amount of oxygen promotes cellular metabolism and allows oxygen to reach all tissues. Hyperoxia has the following physiological effects:

  • Angiogenesis
  • Non-hypoxic vasoconstriction
  • Regulation of oxidative stress and inflammatory response
  • Stimulation of collagen synthesis
  • Increased cerebral blood flow and neuroprotection
  • Stimulation of peripheral axonal regeneration
  • Stimulation of cellular immunity
  • Bactericidal activity
  • Stimulation of stem cells
  • Osteogenesis

Different types of Hyperbaric Chambers according to their differential characteristics:

There are different types of hyperbaric chambers on the market. They are different depending on the pressures they administer and their structure.

  • Monoplace / rigid chambers:

Monoplace chambers are the most common. In most of them, the pressure cannot increase above 3 ATA. Patients can be transferred from a stretcher and the chamber is filled with oxygen under pressure. Some single-place models administer oxygen through a mask.

  • Multiple/rigid chambers:

Multiplace chambers are used to simultaneously treat up to approximately 20 patients. These chambers are compressed with air, and oxygen is delivered through a mask covering the nose and mouth or hoods covering the entire head. The atmosphere is regulated and controlled concerning air and temperature.

Rigid chambers have a hard iron structure, which makes their transportation more complex or even impossible in most cases. The problem with rigid chambers is that they are usually very large and their installation and use require highly trained personnel. Another difficulty is that there is a potential risk of explosion in those that pressurize with oxygen gases and generate neural excitability at high pressures.

It is the only semi-rigid and monoplace chamber with unique safety features. Revitalair technology chambers are Hyperbaric Chambers that pressurize to 1.45 atm. They are safe, accessible, and efficient medical devices for hyperbaric oxygenation treatment.

It is essentially composed of two parts: a cabin and a compressor cabinet. It is distinguished by its design and materials that allow it to be installed in any doctor's office, clinic, or healthcare center. Unlike rigid chambers, anyone can operate them with the training provided by Biobarica without the need for assistance.

Its main features are:

  • Medium safe pressure (1.45 ATA)
  • High therapeutic efficiency
  • Removable stretcher for patients with reduced mobility
  • Zippless closure system. The door is held by pressure, this is something unique in the category of monoplane chambers.
  • High-flow compressor for rapid pressurization and depressurization.
  • 10 windows with 360° view.
  • Dual operating valves.

Revitalair® 430F is the largest and most comfortable single-seat hyperbaric chamber on the market. It has all international approvals and certifications as a medical device, including the FDA, CE, ANMAT, COFEPRIS, DIGEMID, etc.

Biobarica, the company that manufactures Revitalair technology hyperbaric chambers is one of the references in high-quality Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. They provide a complete and cost-effective system that allows members of the network to incorporate Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy into their professional practice to accelerate patient recovery and improve their quality of life. It also offers medical, commercial, technical, and scientific training and support.
