The oxidative stress is a biochemical state of the body originated in the imbalance between the production of reactive oxygen species (free radicals) and the body’s natural ability to rapidly detoxify residual intermediates, or the inability to repair damage in a timely manner resulting from this imbalance, by means of the antioxidant system.

If the production of free radicals exceeds the antioxidant capacity of the organism, oxidative stress and cellular damage are produced.

Oxidative stress is related to several diseases, such as cancers, cardiovascular diseases, obesity, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, eye diseases, lupus, atherosclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and many other common ailments, in addition to premature aging that could have been prevented with an appropriate balance of oxidative stress, with antioxidant supplements, or a diet rich in raw fruits and vegetables. What is sought is to increase the intake of antioxidant products.

So, who can suffer oxidative stress?

Everyone. Is a natural process of aging. But, also, the oxidative stress is present in chronic deseases where inflammation or pain prevail, such as arthritis, osteoarthritis or fibromyalgia, for example.

Which are the symptoms?

– Premature aging.

– Affects the cardiovascular system

– Affects the Central Nervous System.

– It can cause joint pain, symptoms of stiffness and inflammation.

– Some studies describe a close relationship between oxidative stress and fibromyalgia.

The Hyperbaric Medicine reduces and regulates inflammation and helps maintain body balance. Hyperbaric chamber treatment is preventive because it reduces the increase in oxidation, improves energy production and increases oxygenation at cellular level.
